Summary

Angel is in his office with Doyle and Cordelia, he explains that while he was in Sunnydale he helped kill the demon but Buffy never even knew he was there. The next instant, Buffy walks in and Doyle and Cordelia evacuate the room. Buffy's really angry with Angel for not even saying hello while he was in Sunnydale. He explains that he didn't want to hurt her and Buffy says that they should just stick to the plan of avoiding each other. As Buffy heads out, a demon jumps through the window and attacks them. Angel manages to stab the demon with a sword and bright green blood oozes out. The demon then jumps back out the window and Buffy and Angel head out to find the demon. They search the sewers and Angel follows the blood trail. Buffy and Angel get started talking that they feel weird around each other and they both admit that they still care about each other but it can't go any further because they could never have a future together. Buffy then decides to check above the sewers and Angel continues through the tunnels. Angel eventually runs into the demon. They fight viciously and Angel manages to stab him again and the green blood flows onto Angel's hand. The blood seeps into his skin and a bright light emanates from his body. Angel drops to the ground and then realizes that he's human when he feels his heart beat.

Cordelia and Doyle return to the office and find the mess in Angel's office. Angel then walks in and Doyle figures out that he's mortal. Angel's still incredulous and goes crazy over the food he finds in the kitchen. Doyle and Angel do some research and find out it was a Mohra demon with a blood of incredible healing powers. Angel wants to know why he's mortal so Doyle takes him to see the oracles. The oracles says that it wasn't them who did this, it was simply the demon's blood. Angel then heads out into the sunlight, finds Buffy and kisses her passionately. They head back to his apartment where they discuss the repercussions of his mortality for all of five minutes before they begin kissing passionately again. Meanwhile, Doyle and Cordelia are at a bar and Cordelia's gripping about being out of a job because Angel's now human. Doyle suddenly has a vision and it's trouble.

Angel and Buffy are in bed and after making love Buffy is incredibly happy and wants to savor the moment of feeling normal. She eventually falls asleep. Angel rises from the bed when he hears the door open. It's Doyle and he tells Angel about his vision in which the Mohra demon had regenerated itself. Angel is determined to kill the demon alone but Doyle thinks that they should bring Buffy because Angel is only human now. Angel refuses to wake her so they make their way to a factory where the Mohra demon is hiding. Angel tries to fight the demon but ends up getting severely beaten. Back at Angel's, Buffy wakes up and finds out from Cordelia where Angel went. Buffy rushes over and saves Angel from the demon by attacking the demon viciously. Buffy then manages to kill the demon by breaking the jewel on the demon's forehead.

The next day, Angel goes back to the oracles and tells them what he'd heard from the demon; that the end of days had begun, that the soldiers of darkness are coming and that the Slayer will die. Angel asks for his undead life back so that he will be able to help Buffy when the time comes. The oracles agree to do a temporal fold in which the clock is turned back 24 hours and he alone will keep the memory of the past 24 hours in order to kill the demon. Angel returns to his apartment and finds Buffy waiting for him. He tells her about the oracles and that if he remains human, she will die. Buffy's extremely upset and he tries to comfort her. He explains that the oracles agreed to turn the clock back 24 hours at 9:00, which is in one more minute. A sobbing Buffy says that it isn't enough time and that she'll always remember their time together. They hold each other until the clock strikes 9:00.

Angel and Buffy are back in the office, the day before. Just before Buffy leaves, the Mohra demon jumps trhough the window and Angel, knowing what to do, smashes the jewel on its forehead; killing him. Buffy, somewhat surprised by the suddeness of what just happened, then leaves, without any memory of the last 24 hours and Angel's brief mortality.

Cordelia: They suffer, they fight. That's business as usual. But they get groiny with each other and the world as we know it falls apart.

Wow! An explosive episode! But it did feel a lot like someone's piece of fanfic had made it onto the show. Who the hell hasn't imagined Angel becoming suddenly human? Lately there's been a lot of "what ifs" on this show and Buffy and it's getting kind of strange because it gives us what we want and then destroys everything at the end by telling you that it never happened, or that it was a dream, whatever. It's getting kind of frustrating. I liked that Angel got to be human for a little while but I felt that this storyline was placed too close to the storyline about the gem of Imara because it was almost the same thing (well, except for the sex with Buffy part). If they'd've put this storyline a little further down the road I think I would have been a little happier. But nevertheless, it was still an awesome episode. Thank god I don't read spoilers because as soon as I found out that Angel was human while watching the show, my jaw absolutely dropped to the floor. I couldn't believe they'd actually done it on the show! Of course, I knew it couldn't last because then there really wouldn't be a point to the show. I really liked the oracles, with their blue and gold face paint they were absolutely awesome! Sarah Michelle Gellar did a great job at the end of the show with her repeated "It's not enough time" and "I'll never forget" lines that it broke my heart over and over. It was absolutely painful watching the two of them together and then knowing that it wouldn't last and only Angel would remember.

Oh yeah! A whole episode devoted to Buffy and Angel. Ewwwwww! I hated this episode because I hate Buffy and Angel going back and forth (give it up! you'll never be together!) and because it was such an obvious effort to please the hardcore B/A 'shippers that it disgusted me. If you think about it, nothing happened that wasn't taken away at the end except now Angel has even more pain, but hmmmm, Buffy doesn't remember a thing, leaving her free to run back to Riley. And I do not need to see ridiculous montages of Buffy licking ice cream off of Angel's chest! I find it hard to believe she's an ice cream pig considering she's what, a size 0? I would have even skipped this episode if it had not been for this review because Scream was on so I compromised and channel-surfed in between them. Click - cool, Tatum's dying in the garage door-click- Buffy and Angel crying over something - click. The only, and I stress only, good part of this episode was with the goldpainted people, they kicked ass. I wanted more of them in future episodes. And if they plan another cross-over, it better be Spike that crosses over, 'cause he's someone I can actually watch for two hours.
