Doyle enters the office to find Angel sitting alone in the dark. Doyle urges him to go out, seeing as how it's Friday night. Cordelia drops in and Doyle quietly asks Angel put in a good word to Cordelia about him. Cordelia, excited, hands them each a stack of brand new business cards with an angel and the office number emblazoned across it. Suddenly, Doyle has a vision of an 80s dance club and bar. The three of them make there way to the bar called D'Oblique. A blonde haired woman named Sharon is sitting at the bar making small talk with a man named Kevin about the same age. The man is coming on to her very strongly and he says that he feels a connection between them. Angel walks around and proceeds to ask everyone if they're in trouble, while Cordelia hands out business cards to everyone she sees, Doyle tries to keep her from handing out so many cards because he's afraid of the cops. Meanwhile, Sharon has left the bar with Kevin. Angel gets into a strange conversation with a blonde haired woman named Kate. She admits to coming there every night and Angel tells her that he's a veterinarian. Kate tells him that she's in search of a connection with someone. Some twenty feet away, a guy comes up to Cordelia with her business card. He thinks she's a prostitute and Doyle's her pimp and he's wondering if she charges by the hour. Doyle then starts a fight with the guy and his friend. Angel breaks away from his conversation with Kate to help Doyle out. The bartender then sends the two guys out of the bar for causing so much trouble.
Sharon and Kevin are in bed together. We then cut to a scene later to see Sharon standing up and Keving lying in the bed, dead and covered in blood. Back at the office, the trio is looking in newspapers and on the internet for anything that might have occured around that bar. Doyle uses his internet skills ans pulls up some reports on missing men and women from around the bar. The man was eviscerated and a few women have been kidnapped. Angel heads back to the bar while Doyle and Cordelia do some research on demons that eviscerate people. Angel runs in to Kate at the bar and apologizes for leaving her last night. He requests that she not go in D'Oblique but she's ignorant and goes ahead in. Meanwhile, Karen is chatting to another lonely guy at the bar and they eventually leave together. A man drops by the bar and asks the bartender if his friend Kevin has been around because no one's seen or spoken to him lately. The bartender can only say that he left with some girl name Sharon Richler. Angel, having heard the conversation, sets off. He looks Sharon Richler up in the phone book and rips out the page. At the office, Cordelia and Doyle are researching demons and Cordelia comments that demons are disgusting. Doyle, takes somewhat offense as he is a demon but Cordelia doesn't know, tries to convince her that not all demons are bad.
Sharon and the other man from the bar are in bed. Suddenly Sharon's chest rips open and some creature burrows it's way into the man. Angel enters the apartment and finds Sharon dead on the bed. The man is still there and he tells Angel that he must keep changing bodies until he can find the right one. They get into a fight, Angel gets stunned and the man runs out of the apartment. Two seconds later, Kate appears and pulls a gun on Angel. She quickly shows him her LAPD badge and tells him she's been tracking him since their conversation in the bar. After seeing the dead body in the bed, Kate tries to cuff Angel but he gets loose and jumps out the window and runs off.
At Angel's request, the trio meets up at Cordelia's. Angel tells them about Kate and about the demon which is a burrower that changes from person to person after an exchange of fluids. Angel heads back to the bar in search of the demon. Meanwhile the demon has switched bodies again. At daybreak, Angel returns to Cordelia's apartment. Cordelia and Doyle inform him that the demon is a parasite and his only weakness seems to be fire. Angel phones Kate, in need of her help. He asks her to meet him at the bar tonight.
That night at the bar, the bartender tells Kate that Angel's in the back alley. Once in the alley, the bartender knocks her unconscious and the demon inside him is preparing to transfer to her body when Angel whacks him over the head with a plank of wood. After a short fight, Angel and Kate somehow get locked in the bar's basement. Kate shoots the lock and they leave the basement and franctically begin to search for the demon. Angel sees him struggling in an alley with a girl. Angel jumps in and starts fighting the demons. Angel spots an oil drum that's on fire that some bums were using for warmth. Angel quickly picks it up and throws it at the demon. The demon burns quickly. An ambulance and police show up. Kate thanks him for saving her life.
Back at the office, Angel says that he'd like to take Doyle and Cordelia out for some fun because they worked so hard but Doyle and Cordelia are tired and they head home. Angel sits down, alone and in the dark.

Well this episode wasn't so hot. And it definitely doesn't rate too high on my list. But it did get a little better the more I watched it though. I think the lonely people idea was an interesting concept but it was a little overstrung in this episode because everyone kept talking about "making a connection". That's all fine and dandy but they didn't have to use those exact words every single time. I did like Cordelia's scenes with Doyle. I personally don't think that they're going to hook up but they'll probably be very good friends. Cordelia's best line was "Eww! Cordelia wears a bra! Cordelia has girl parts!" mocking Doyle. Great sarcasm :) I like Kate, I was pretty interested in her character. I don't want to see her hooking up with Angel but she'll make a pretty good addition to the cast we have so far, she just needs a little more attitude or spark or something.

Angel this week was a bit weird. I mean, I really don't need to see some guys skin falling off of his face. And the mutant that breaks through the skin of people? Ewww. To those of you who have read what I've written before, you might know that when Angel was on Buffy, I didn't like him very much, especially after he turned into an AMAZING bad ass, but then turned back into that sniveling pathetic creature who mopes around, pining for Buffy. Well, surprise, surprise, I actually like Angel again. He's somewhere in between the bad ass and the loser, which I think is the perfect place for him. I liked the loneliness factor of this episode, but how 80's was that bar (as Cordy so eloquently put it)? One thing I really don't like is the cop. I still haven't gotten used to our trio together yet, and maybe that's why they decided to introduce this character now, so she wouldn't seem to obtrusive later, but I still don't like it. The whole I-think-you're-guilty-but-you're-actually-trying-to-catch-the-murderer maybe hasn't been done on Buffy, but it has been done before. Repeatedly. Hopefully the next episode will have a smaller-eww factor and a bit more respect for the inteliigence of the viewers
